Mud Flats Band Rocks HardHeads New Years Eve!

David Roork-
David has always loved lots of different kinds of music.  He grew up listening to gospel, jazz, swing, country, rock and roll, blues, folk, etc. His Dad was a big Bob Wills fan so some of the first things he learned to play on guitar were Texas swing songs. David didn't take up guitar until after he left home, but his Dad still was able to teach him some great songs that he loves to this day.
In addition to guitar, he began learning to play banjo and mandolin and eventually got to play with several bluegrass bands.  He got an upright bass in the early 80's and began to play that with a couple of different groups of friends.  Lately David has been mainly playing guitar and mandolin, but recently got his fiddle out and started learning to play it.  He is having lots of fun and getting to play different kinds of cool music with his friends, the Mud Flats.

Steve Thrower-
As the oldest member of “The Mudflats” Steve has been around music since Moby Dick was a minnow. He plays guitar, sings lead and harmony vocals and writes music.  Raised in Southeast Texas and influenced by everything from southern rock, blues, blue grass, country and Americana, his music reflects a blend of the coastal prairie, the Caribbean and the Texas Hill Country.  In 2004 Steve’s rendition of a Fred Eaglesmith song titled “How’s Ernie” was included on an album titled “20 odd Holler’s II”, produced in Canada and distributed throughout North America.
Previously with “Alternate Route” along with David Roork, Steve penned and sang the title tracks on two CD’s, “Bait Shop Beauty” released in 2005 and “Cozumel Moon” released in 2009. Steve and David have performed together for 12 years and have opened shows for Americana star Fred Eaglesmith and country music legend Billy Joe Shaver.

Blaine Duplecion-
Born in Beaumont, Blaine started playing in a neighborhood garage band back in 1990. He started with harmonica because it was all he could afford.  He was inspired by his dad who played harmonica and accordion.
He began playing and singing at Thirsty’s in a three-piece country band (Coastliners) and a four-piece classic rock band (Onofatman), before being asked to be the front man for Mid Life Crisis in 2009, where he still is today.  Blaine is inspired by Texas Country bands and how diverse that genre is.  He got with the band known as Alternate Route whose lead singer took a job overseas. That was the beginning what today is The Mudflats!

David Dunivant-
David could easily be considered the “youngest musician in the band,” considering the fact that he had never picked up a bass guitar until six years ago.  Give him a listen and you will soon agree that he took to it “like a duck to water.”  David is a natural musician and brings a solid anchor to the framework and the beat of the band.
David hails from Pinewood in Hardin County, and also lends his musical talents to the First United Methodist Church of Silsbee where he performs in the church band.

Kenny Wiebusch-
Kenny became fascinated with the guitar at the age of eight and has been playing ever since.  He plays lead guitar and sings lead and harmony vocals with “The Mudflats.”  Born and raised in Beaumont, he has fronted several bands, including “Open All Night” and “Kenny Wiebusch and the Outstanding Warrants.”  Kenny also enjoys being the lead guitar slinger for “David Lee Kaiser and the World Champions” and “The Rick Show.”  Influenced by nearly all corners of music, as his tastes have evolved, he has become a huge fan of singer-songwriters.
Kenny has enjoyed recording in Austin on the CD “Strawberry Moon” with some of the finest musicians from the area.

Roy Ward-
Roy has always loved and appreciated music and how much fun it is play. He is very thankful for all the different people he has met and their talent and their willingness to “let him in”! I guess you can say he’s “living the dream!"
He started out playing the saxophone in school. In 1970, the drummer for the band that played for his senior prom got his attention. He learned the drums and played in a number of bands over the next 45+ years. Roy says that The Mud Flats are the most fun he has had!  (By the way, the drummer back in 1970 was Frank Beard. The band.....ZZ Top). The party never ends.
