Rollover Pass in Gilchrist Texas, was a tradition for generations, fishing for the day, weekend or a week while on vacation on Bolivar Peninsula or in Crystal Beach Texas. With heavy hearts, we hate to say, that Rollover Pass is now CLOSED. The area of the old pass is still accessible and is a great place to park with easy access to Rollover Bay for fishing and crabbing and on the south side of Hwy 87, parking is available for beach access. The sights you can still see while parked at the pass, to the north you have East Galveston Bay, the intra-coastal, and Rollover Bay. On the south side of Hwy 87, The NEW Rollover Pier is being built which started 2-1-25 and should be completed in 15 to 24 months. Access to the wide-open Texas Gulf and the beachfront is easy and available on both sides of the construction area. Depending on time of year a permit is required for parking which can be purchased from one of the Rollover Pass bait shops or a volunteer will be more than happy to help you purchase one.
