Fishing Report Week Ending September 23, 2025

The water clarity is average for East Galveston Bay. Once again, this week we shifted our focus towards redfish in the shallows and they did not disappoint with great catches over the last week, on our morning and afternoon trips, along with some nice flounder showing up in the same areas. When fishing grass lines, if your cast is not right on the grass, success is very limited. Active bait in the area is important, so if you dont see bait or signs of life, don't spend a whole lot of time in the area. We are still using Imitation shrimp lures & tails under Fish Smack popping corks, with a 1-foot leader to trigger the most bites, as well as weightless Deadly Dudley Rat Tails, and WacAttack Flukes. We have been having our best luck in and around grass lines in a foot to 24" of water, with indentations/drains/points being the most productive areas. We have managed to still catch keeper trout over shell in 3 to 4 foot of water on tails with 1/8 oz heads, as well as mid bay reefs, but having to weed through a large number of smaller fish as well. The crowds are starting to thin out, so now is the time to schedule your fall fishing trip and get out enjoy all the upper Texas Coast has to offer for anglers.
