The Port Bolivar Volunteer Fire Department (PBVFD) has proudly served the residents of Port Bolivar, Texas for over 70 years. Established in 1953, PBVFD was founded by dedicated local citizens committed to protecting their coastal community. What began with a single fire truck and a small crew has grown into a vital part of Bolivar Peninsula’s emergency response network, delivering reliable fire suppression, rescue services, and emergency support to residents and visitors alike.
PBVFD responds to a wide range of emergencies including structure fires, grass fires, vehicle accidents, and storm-related incidents, especially during hurricane season. Working in coordination with Galveston County Emergency Services District #2 (ESD #2) and regional emergency management partners, PBVFD plays a critical role in community disaster preparedness and evacuation planning for the Port Bolivar area.
Staffed by trained volunteers, the department continues to thrive thanks to strong community support, ongoing training, and a commitment to safety. With deep roots in the community and a focus on the future, the Port Bolivar Volunteer Fire Department stands ready to protect life and property along the upper Texas coast.
