A weekend event for most, with a Saturday Morning Parade. Mardi Gras on Bolivar Peninsula has grown through-out the years and grown even BIGGER since Ike in 2008.
Bolivars Mardi Gras Parade kicks-off about 11:30 am most years and starts just west Hardheads Ice House traveling north/east along Hwy 87 and ends at Gregory Park. Don’t think you can sleep-in, you better get your watching spot early as families and friends stake claim to their favorite watching spot early with BBQ pits fired-up for the parade. From Fire Trucks to Little Red Wagons pulled behind Golf Carts and Big Trailer Floats with Live Bands playing their favorite Cajun Song keep on-lookers entertained as the parade makes its way down Hwy 87.
It’s a yearly kick-off for many area restaurants to bring in Live Music to their eatery and most have the Boiling Pots Fired-up and serving mouth-watering Boiled Crawfish, a favorite of many after the parade. Kids, bring your bags for all the candy, beads and bling each float has to offer and throws to on-lookers. It’s a great event for family and friends, need a place to stay for the weekend, don’t worry, Bolivar Peninsula has many RV parks along the route or with-in walking distance to the parade route, need a home check with one of the many area Real Estate Companies for a weekend Beach House Vacation Rental, many are discounted with off-season pricing in place.
