Galveston and Crystal Beach Texas Weekly Bay and Offshore Fishing Report

Galveston Jetty and Offshore Fishing Report- Capt. Darrell Hingle- HinglesGuideService.com

Well, we’re on the backside of February and the days are getting a little longer and signs of spring are in the air. The trees are budding out, honey bees are active, blue birds and purple martins are showing up and then there’s the FOG!

I fished several days this week, all at the jetties and caught some huge sheepshead and black drum. There were a few redfish and speckled trout in the mix too. The water temperature is 56-57* and clarity is really good on the outside but a little dirty along the channel side.

I thought I’d take a few minutes and introduce myself. I have been guiding for 21 years, the last 6 out of the Galveston Yacht Basin. My wife, Brenda and I are currently building a house in Laguna Harbor and are really excited to be moving full-time to the peninsula.

I run a 33’ Worldcat Catamaran, I provide all the rod and reels, bait and tackle and clean your catch at the end of the trip. I offer bay, jetty and beachfront as well as offshore trips from 5 to 12 hrs.

Next week I will go into a little detail about what we target and when on all the trips I offer.

Galveston East Bay- Capt. Ronnie Scheck- CrystalBeachFishing.com

Hello again from Crystal Beach Fishing. Last week we had to deal with bad sea fog every morning. But the good news is that by mid-morning, the sun broke through and the fishing was really good. The water temp has finally made it into the low 60's and getting better every day that we get sunshine. We had good numbers of nice trout in the 16-18 inch range on the outgoing tide. Bait of choice was live shrimp fished about 3ft under a popping cork on bay reefs in East Galveston Bay. Shorelines are holding a few reds and some small undersized trout. Spring Breakers can look forward to some good fishing in the weeks to come with a lot of action. Big drum and Sheepshead are on the move as well looking for a reel to strip some line off of. So don't get left sitting on the dock. Book your family trip now and get in on the fun.

Until next time, see you on the water.

Capt Ronnie Scheck
